In 1981 several members of the Summerville community decided that we could improve the lives of our most vulnerable citizens by offering a meal program delivered each day.
Our mission: Meals on Wheels of Summerville is a community-driven, non-government-funded organization dedicated to delivering nutritious meals, providing compassionate wellness checks, and fostering connection for homebound neighbors. Powered by local volunteers and generous supporters, we ensure that those in need receive not just food, but dignity, independence, and a reminder that they are never alone.
What does it take to be a volunteer? Besides the obvious compassion and love of community – you only need to be present to lend a hand.
We all love our pets - and we understand that for some seniors who live alone - a pet is the difference between living with a furry friend who gives love, a sense of purpose and companionship each day - and living in isolation.
